Advanced C++, C#, Java, Assembler and Cobol. I took an introduction class in Operating System design.
I minored in Entrepreneurship to establish an understanding of business.
While at NIU they really wanted to pass older languages to the next generation as the older generations were retiring they were afraid there wouldn't be enough developers who knew languages like Assembler, Cobol, and more.
I was taught a core of C++ programming, advanced C++ concepts, and also cobol. They really wanted us to understand how to do something in Assembler then that same concept in cobol and then the same concept in C++. We also were taught some operation system design as well.
They had a solid core of skills also including Java, Web, and C#. I really learned a lot while attending NIU. I did feel that I should really learn some business skills like Entrepreneurship in order to provide support to any business entities while working for a company or learning how to build my own company.
I learned a lot from Operational Management, Entrepreneurship 1&2, and many other course for my Entrepreneurship minor. It was a great learning experience!
Learning the older more advanced programming languages helped me form deep understanding programming and my continued education advanced my understanding.
Foundations of programming, C++ Beginner, Intermediate C++, and Advanced C++.
Game Development, Computer Keyboard Course, and more.
While at Waubonsee they help expand my general studies while also focusing on building my experience with concepts in C++. After a few primers in basic computer programming concepts I took several C++ courses to really start and understand basic, intermediate, and complex C++ concepts.
The final project in advanced C++ was creating an entire terminal program that would write, read, and edit entries on a CSV dataset. I remember getting a really good grade for that assignment and it was a lot of fun to do something practical with my experience.
For my general studies I had several electives so I tried out some game development courses because I had an interest. A common hobby of mine was experimenting with making video games. I left Waubonsee with a solid understand of programming concepts and started pusuing my bachelors in computer science at NIU.
Building a core understanding of building Advanced C++ applications helped be build a solid understanding of the core fundamentals.
